With Kanye West, J.Cole, and Mac Miller dropping their albums last week, and Wale releasing his third album Tuesday, what other albums are left to anticipate? Well, we have a list of ten albums that are the most anticipated albums of the summer. Check out the list after the jump.
10.) Juicy J x Stay Trippy
The Three 6 Mafia founder is still having success with his strip club anthem “Bands A Make Her Dance”. But after a year since its release, fans are still waiting on a full LP. Juicy J dropped two other singles “One of those Nights” ft. The Weeknd, and “Show Out” ft. Big Sean and Young Jeezy. Stay Trippy is scheduled for an August release.
9.) 2 Chainz x B.O.A.T.S II: Me Time
2 Chainz plans to avoid the sophomore slump with his upcoming album, and with his new single “Feds Watching” ft. Pharrell, he already off to a good start. The album is scheduled to come out September 10th; yes, that its technically still summer.
8.) Chris Brown x X
With so much controversy surrounding Chris Brown, it is impressive that people are still anticipating new music from him. With his new single “Fine China”, it is clear that Brown is straying away from making pop/techno songs. You can expect the album on July 16th.
7.) Meek Mill x Dreamchasers 3
There are many “Levels” to Meek Mill’s Dremchasers series. He plans to release the latest installment to the popular mixtape series sometime this summer. Originally scheduled for June 11th, but obviously that was pushed back.
6.) Danny Brown x Old
Since the release of his last album XXX, many people have anticipating Danny Brown’s next project. Old is scheduled to be released sometime in August and it features Schoolboy Q, A$ap Rocky, Freddie Gibbs, and many more.
5.) Schoolboy Q x OxyMoron
OxyMororon cracked the top five on our list, and Q can thank Kendrick Lamar for that. With the success of Kendrick’s good kid m.A.A.d city, fans are waiting to see what his TDE running mate, Schoolboy Q has in-stored. Mac Miller said in a interview that Q has the potential to have more mainstream success than K.Dot. We shall see if Mac is right when the album arrives this summer.
4.) Big Sean x Hall of Fame
Fans believe that Big Sean’s latest mixtape, Detroit, should have been an album; but the G.O.O.D Music artist plans to further improve himself with the album Hall of Fame. His latest single, “Switch Up” is making its way through radio, and he recently was seen in the studio with fellow Detroit MC, Eminem. Sean recently revealed that the album will be released August 27th.
3.) Pusha T x My Name is My Name
Two mixtapes and an EP under his belt since he signed with G.O.O.D Music, and still no album. But earlier this year, the Clipse member announced that his new album should be arriving this summer. There is a lot of pressure on Pusha T, as many are expecting him to deliver. Album arrives July 16.
2.) Drake x Nothing Was The Same
“The Summer’s Mine”- a bold, but somewhat accurate statement made by the YMCB rapper. Drake current single “Started From the Bottom” is on heavy rotation on the radio. On Grammy night, he announced that his new album will be called Nothing Was The Same; and over the weekend, he revealed that the album will be released on September 17th. Technically still the summer, but too late to be considered the album of the summer. Sorry Drizzy.
1,) Jay-z x Magna Carta Holy Grail
Well, for Samsung users, this album is already out; but for everyone else, they will have to wait until July 4th to cop Jay-Z’s new album. Hov has not released a solo album since 2009, so fans have been dying for a new project for awhile now. No word on the features, other than Justin Timberlake, but production on the album was handled by legendary producers Timbaland, Rick Rubin, Pharrell, and Swizz Beatz.
